Position Title: Senior Manager – Environmental Health and Safety

Position Summary
This role is responsible for the implementation of all EHS Programs, policies, procedures and forms of safety communication at within a large entertainment productions company out of Hollywood, California, driving consistent safety program and policy implementation across all lines of business, as well as increasing site awareness and ongoing safety engagement opportunities.
This role will provide technical support and subject matter expertise to the various lines of business and operating groups in their pursuit of safety excellence and ongoing growth of a business-wide safety culture. The Sr. Manager leads the delivery and implementation of all activities, initiatives, and governance for safety program sustainment at USH in collaboration with peers, site leadership and corporate Environment Health and Safety Department (EHS). This includes being responsible for project management and implementation and/or development of written policy, programs and procedures, associated regulatory training content, regulatory reports, third party audits, and provides consultation services on behalf of EHS.
This role will provide leadership and ongoing coaching and mentoring to a team of EHS professionals in their support of various lines of business. Monitors and drives awareness to changing or new regulatory impacts, reacting accordingly when written programs or policy require update.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a safety, occupational health or industrial hygiene field required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10 years of experience in the Safety and Occupational Health field
- 1-5 years of experience in management or leading teams
- Must be a proficient public speaker in order to facilitate training or lead meetings as assigned.
- Must have exceptional written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to conduct regulatory or standards research and in turn apply those requirements appropriately to the business.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of a 24/7 365 day operation.
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walking/traveling to multiple venues throughout the day.
Desired Qualifications
- Professional designation such as CSP, CIH, OHST, or other nationally recognized professional designation preferred but not required.
- Strong oral and written communicator.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Prior theme park or amusement park employment experience highly desired.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Team leadership – provides coaching and direction to a team of safety professionals driving team member engagement and retention.
- Evaluates business risk to regulatory compliance, corrective action trends, incidents and audit results and prescribes the necessary preventative or corrective measures to include Engineering, Administrative, and Personal Protective methods.
- Manages projects and processes for the development and/or implementation of Hazard Management Programs in compliance with policy, procedures and regulatory interpretations and prepares and/or coordinates the preparation of regulatory permits and reports.
- Develops and implements site specific Hazard Control Programs as identified through the audit process or new regulatory impact to the business.
- Manages the monitoring strategy, result interpretation, approval, and reporting/communication for Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and other monitoring events. Advises the team as the subject matter expert on all related topics and issues.
- Develops and/or implements inspection protocols against audit results, programs and procedures to validate compliance with business model, policy, regulation and best practice
- Validates that incident investigations, associated reports and corrective actions are completed timely as required
- Participates as site representative on corporate EHS program development committees or special projects as assigned.
- Educates site EHS team and affected lines of business on program changes and implementation requirements.
- Provides input on safety alerts, informational bulletins or other communications on various Hazard Control Programs and regulatory subjects as needed.
- Identifies and maintains a master listing of all tasks and processes identified as High Risk Operations and maintains or develops the associated risk assessments for them in conjunction with peers and other EHS team members.
- Manages change via ongoing, documented risk assessments of new operations or facility changes.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, and training.
- Participates in the EHS Department on-call program, serving as the department representative responding to reported concerns, consultation inquiries to the department, attendance at operational meetings, or in response to major incidents in the role of EIC – EHS Incident Command.
- Continuous self-development and education in areas of environmental, health & safety, industry trends and regulatory impacts, updating programs as necessary to changing requirements.
- Utilizes every interaction with others to educate and promote a culture of environmental, health & safety excellence.
